PROFILE	Julia Chau is a Hong Kong born Graphic Designer who moved to the UK in her teens, and trained as a Graphic Designer in London. Eventually started to specialize in branding, Julia moved to another agency as a middle-weight designer which has a more internationally corporate client base. After two and a half years of intense branding within the financial and medical industry, Julia moved on to being the Lead Designer for the Asia Pacific region of HSBC Private Bank. Her fluency in speaking and writing Chinese had came in useful. This role was based in London HQ, with regular travelling to Hong Kong and Singapore HQ, providing design and marketing solutions for Asia Pacific countries including Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and China. During this time, Julia was shortlisted for New Visual Artist 30 under 30 for Print Magazine in New York, USA. In 2010, Julia relocated to Adelaide, South Australia. HSBC has decided to keep her as an overseas Design Consultant, and since then she has also worked with Defence SA, which is the main key player within the defence industry of Australia, and The Australian Centre for Social Innovation. As well as providing design and marketing solutions for local businesses in Adelaide. Julia is a professional member of AGDA (The Australian Graphic Design Association).

PROFILE	Tehran-born Filipino-American Brian Tenorio is a New York-based design manager, graphic designer, and communications consultant specializing in communications design work for international organizations (in the corporate and social development sectors). Join us on 24 November 2010, 17.00 – 19.00 at the Design Council.

Public services are facing their biggest challenges for a generation. Finding solutions will require policy makers and deliverers to question long-held assumptions about the design of the processes, environments and products which they use. There is an urgent need for government and the public sector to recognize the importance of design and to make use of the best modern principles of design and customer research to develop new service designs and business processes. The Design Council is uniquely placed to assist with these challenges as it has an established track record in supporting innovation in public services.

This joint PMPA and Design Council event, will seek both to widen our horizons and focus on practical delivery. Lord Bichard will look at the work of great designers in successfully solving public sector problems and examine how modern design principles and innovative interventions to develop new markets can deliver real improvements in both the outcomes for the citizen and value for money.

This is a unique opportunity to join senior managers from across the public services to learn from others and to participate in discussion and debate.
